The Faculty of Science of the University of Zurich invites applications for the position of: Full or Associate Professor of Geography with specialization in Remote Sensing

The position will start on February 1st, 2009. The successful candidate will have profound scientific expertise in optical or microwave remote sensing of the Earth, with a focus on developing methods for data acquisition, processing, quantitative analysis and/or visualization in earth observation. Candidates should demonstrate successful research and teaching and have an internationally recognized track record in one of the above domains. The newly appointed professor will lead the Remote Sensing Laboratories (RSL) of the Department of Geography and be responsible for a teaching program in remote sensing at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Evidence should be provided of the ability to attract and direct substantial research projects and to collaborate with colleagues both within and beyond the discipline. The Department of Geography of the University of Zurich is a large department with an excellent reputation for research and teaching. Its Remote Sensing Laboratories are internationally well-established and offer MSc and PhD specializations in RS.
